When His Dad Died in Line of Duty, Someone Special Showed Up to Watch Him Pitch at the Big Game

Houston Police Officer Richard Martin was killed in the line of duty Monday when, police say, a burglary suspect intentionally hit him with his car.

His fellow officers paid their respects with their uniforms.

Officer Martin left behind his 11-year-old son, Tyler, who decided he’d honor his Dad by pitching for his team, The Texas Hawks, in his Little League game the next day.

But he wasn’t alone.

Officers from the Houston Police Department came to cheer on Tyler.

And pray for their friend.

They signed his game ball. One of the officers said of Tyler, “He’s always going to be one of us.”

We don’t know if his team won. But guess that doesn’t matter, does it?

Officer Robert Martin, Tyler’s Dad, will be buried on Friday.
