4 US Cities Cited as Most Violent in the World. Do You Know What They Have in Common?

A recent study by the Citizens’ Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice compiled the 50 most violent cities in the world.

While it’s important to note that the rankings didn’t include cities that are within “war zones” and many cities didn’t report their murder data for that year, the list is revealing nonetheless.

The city that topped the list? San Pedro Sula, Honduras, with 187.14 homicides per 100,000 people.

This begs the question: Why are there so many murders in these American cities?

It’s true that the issue of high homicide rates is a multifaceted one, but perhaps by looking at patterns that are common to more violent cities, we can come up with effective solutions to the problem.
