A home security camera helps an Alabama homeowner catch the crooks that broke into his house.  Chris Wyatt and another family member held them at gunpoint until police arrived.

Wyatt apprehended some of the suspects he believed responsible for breaking into his family’s home near Warrior.

They happen to drive by and we seen them drive by and we knew it was them and we stopped them,” said Chris Wyatt.

Wyatt was able to recognize the alleged perpetrators thanks to his home surveillance system.  Video shows a woman knocking on the family’s home on Friday afternoon.  When no one answers, she along with two accomplices help themselves to two TV’s and several of the family’s Christmas presents, including those for their 1-year-old son.

When Wyatt confronted the suspects, they tried to say that they were lost and we corrected them where they were.

The family called 911 to say they were holding the suspects at gunpoint.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies arrived a short time later and took a man and two women into custody.

Investigators have not yet confirmed identities of the individuals or any charges, but Wyatt is certain the man and one of the women are those seen in the video.

They broke into another house before this and luckily their stolen stuff was still in that vehicle,” Wyatt said.

That homeowner was brought to the scene where he identified most of his belongings.  As for the Wyatts, they’re still looking to get back what was taken.

“Sure hope so, if they don’t, at least we’re all safe and in one piece and they are off the street for now,” said Sarah Wyatt.
